COLLECTIVE FUTURES, the 52nd Annual Conference of the National Council of Arts Administrators, convenes past, present, and future arts leaders of distinct institutional backgrounds to explore the role of collectivity and shared responsibilities in the creative management of resources, pedagogies, and innovations. Within the metropolitan city of Detroit, where community activism, arts activism, philanthropy, and business have facilitated new cultural vibrancy, the College for Creative Studies (a private art + design school), Wayne State University (a public university), and Cranbrook Academy of Art (a private, graduate-only institution) have come together to propose a consideration of the creative role of collective practices in the building of new futures.
